AI Engineer

About the role

Parsons is seeking an AI Engineer to provide technical advisory support for the design, evaluation, and advancement of AI‑enabled applications, tools, and workflows for government missions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide SETA support and technical advice to government teams developing AI‑enabled applications.
• Advise on AI application design, prototyping, integration, and evaluation, including LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows, and orchestration layers.
• Assess architectures, model usage patterns, latency, reliability, observability, and security considerations.
• Develop technical guidance, prototypes, and briefings for stakeholders and support test and evaluation activities.
• Collaborate with platform engineers, product leads, mission users, and leadership to keep AI efforts operationally relevant.

Required profile

• Minimum 18 years of experience with a Bachelor’s (or 15 years with a Master’s) in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field.
• Active Top Secret SCI with Polygraph security clearance.
• Proven experience designing, building, integrating, or evaluating AI/ML‑enabled applications or software tools.

Required skills

• Expertise with large language models, retrieval‑augmented generation, prompt engineering, and agentic systems.
• Hands‑on experience with orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, CrewAI, Haystack, or LlamaIndex.
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript for AI application development.
• Knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, model APIs, evaluation frameworks, and agent testing harnesses.
• Ability to assess technical trade‑offs and communicate them to engineers and government stakeholders.
