Advanced Heart Failure Physician

About the role

Ochsner Clinic Foundation is seeking board‑eligible physicians to diagnose and treat patients with advanced heart failure and those requiring cardiac transplantation. The role involves both inpatient and outpatient care, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver cutting‑edge therapies.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, evaluate, and manage advanced heart failure and transplant candidates, including ordering and interpreting cardiac catheterizations and endomyocardial biopsies.
• Provide complex medical regimens, implant and manage left ventricular assist devices and acute mechanical circulatory support systems.
• Offer inpatient and outpatient consultations to fellow physicians and ensure after‑hours call coverage as needed.
• Participate in departmental administrative and academic meetings.

Required profile

• Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) with a valid Louisiana medical license.
• Completion of an accredited advanced heart failure and transplant fellowship.

Required skills

• Proficiency in cardiac catheterization.
• Experience with endomyocardial biopsy interpretation.
• Management of left ventricular assist devices (LVADs).
• Knowledge of acute mechanical circulatory support technologies.
