Admission Counselor I

About the role

The Admission Counselor I supports Saint Louis University's enrollment goals by engaging prospective students and their families throughout the admissions process. This role involves recruitment travel, application review, event planning, and counseling on admissions, academics, and campus life.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain communication with high school, college, or adult learners and their counselors.
• Provide counseling on admission, financial aid, career planning, and housing, including FAFSA guidance.
• Identify, recruit, and enroll prospective students within a designated market and develop recruitment strategies.
• Plan and execute regional and local travel, manage outreach by mail and phone, and handle reservations.
• Review academic credentials, make admission decisions, and assist with scholarship allocation.
• Participate in recruitment team activities, special programs, and enrollment strategy development.
• Perform administrative tasks such as drafting letters, compiling reports, maintaining calendars, processing applications, and managing confidential files.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Effective presentation, planning, and organizational abilities.
• Basic research capability and proficiency with personal computer software.
• Ability to learn and apply institutional policies and procedures.
• Self‑direction, motivation, and capacity to work well in a team.
• Willingness to travel, work weekends or evenings, and handle travel‑related stress.
• Capability to multitask, manage competing priorities, and build relationships with a diverse student population.
