4-H Extension Agent (Assistant to Full)

About the role

The 4-H Extension Agent works for NC State Extension to deliver research‑based, non‑formal education programs that empower youth and adults in Dare County. This position offers a dynamic, community‑focused career where no two days are alike.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive 4‑H programs that meet local needs.
• Engage directly with community members, families, and youth in various settings.
• Collaborate with county staff, volunteers, and partner organizations to extend program reach.
• Maintain records, prepare reports, and assess program outcomes.
• Promote 4‑H activities through outreach events, workshops, and presentations.

Required profile

• Professional educator with a degree relevant to youth development, agriculture, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and adapt to community schedules.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for diverse audiences.
• Eligibility for Assistant, Associate, or Full Agent level based on qualifications.
