Utility Operator

About the role

Enviva is seeking a Utility Operator to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient operation of its wood‑bioenergy plant. The role involves handling mobile equipment, performing routine inspections, and maintaining key plant systems.

Key responsibilities

• Operate mobile equipment such as skid steer, forklift, and front‑end loaders.
• Inspect equipment daily and conduct basic maintenance to keep it in good working order.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance of dryer, furnace, emissions, and environmental equipment.
• Execute daily preventative maintenance and cleaning activities, including emissions equipment strainers, tooling changes, housekeeping, and wash‑downs.
• Complete assigned duties and maintain accurate paperwork.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledgeable and experienced with heavy equipment operation.
• Quick learner able to work with little supervision.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions safely and efficiently.
• Willingness to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and noisy industrial environments.
• Ability to work 12‑hour rotating shifts and meet physical demands (lifting up to 50 lb, standing, walking, climbing).
