Toddler Teacher

About the role

The Toddler Teacher is responsible for the health, safety, and education of young children at the Barbara and Ray Alpert JCC in Long Beach. The role involves direct programming with children, parent education, and program development.

Key responsibilities

• Direct care and supervision of toddlers, including implementing lesson plans.
• Develop and deliver curriculum independently and in collaboration with staff and parents.
• Prepare weekly communications for parents and conduct parent conferences.
• Maintain classroom setup, cleanliness, and safety throughout the day.
• Participate in staff training, meetings, and ongoing professional development.

Required profile

• High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field or early childhood education units preferred.
• Must meet California Department of Social Services employee requirements and pass background checks.
• Strong communication skills and ability to relate well to children and families.
• Willingness to learn about Jewish holidays, traditions, and life‑cycle events.
• Ability to lift a 45‑pound child and navigate classroom and playground environments.
