System Operator – Transmission Control Center

About the role

Entergy is seeking qualified System Operators to manage the bulk electric system from the Transmission Control Center in Arkansas. The role involves real‑time monitoring, coordination with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring system reliability during normal and emergency conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor transmission system parameters (voltage, line flows, equipment loading) and initiate corrective actions.
• Operate switching, tagging and clearance processes in compliance with safety and regulatory standards (FERC, NERC, SERC).
• Communicate system status to internal and external customers and coordinate routine and emergency outages.
• Maintain accurate documentation of system conditions and actions taken.

Required profile

• Ability to work rotating shifts and obtain NERC System Operator certification within 12 months.
• Strong analytical and technical skills to assess and respond to off‑normal system conditions.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with field crews, contractors, and regulatory bodies.

Required skills

• NERC System Operator certification (or ability to obtain).
• Experience with SCADA systems and transmission grid monitoring.
• Knowledge of power‑flow principles, substation equipment, and one‑line diagrams.
• Proficiency in switching, tagging and clearance procedures.
