Solution Design Engineer - Mechanical

About the role

The Solution Design Engineer – Mechanical will join Dematic’s Customer Service Solution Development team to estimate and design complex material handling solutions for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Understand and estimate mechanical equipment for integrated material handling systems, including conveyors and sortation equipment.
• Create and modify proposal drawings, develop Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) costing, and support technical and cost reviews.
• Collaborate with project and solution teams during concept, technical, and cost reviews.
• Provide technical interchange, knowledge transfer, and recommendations for productivity improvement and cost reduction.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5‑10 years of experience designing and commissioning automated material handling systems, especially conveyor and sorter equipment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with distribution center operations, logistics, and automation.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D design tools.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
