Patient Care Technician – Adult ICU, Med/Surg, Oncology (PRN)

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide direct, high‑quality care in adult ICU, medical‑surgical, and oncology units on a PRN (as‑needed) basis. This position supports the clinical team by delivering compassionate patient care and ensuring a safe environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver bedside care to patients in adult ICU, med‑surg, and oncology settings, including monitoring vital signs and assisting with activities of daily living.
• Support nursing staff during procedures, transport, and patient positioning.
• Document patient observations accurately in the electronic health record.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and follow established protocols.
• Maintain a clean and safe patient care environment, adhering to infection‑control standards.

Required profile

• Legal authorization to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
• Prior experience in acute care settings such as ICU, med‑surg, or oncology is preferred.
• Ability to work flexible PRN shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) competency.
