About the role
Join 3M’s global research community as an Optics Research Scientist, working from the Maplewood, MN campus. You will apply your curiosity and expertise to develop advanced optical materials and help bring new products to market.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and advance optical materials technologies for commercialization.
- Protect 3M intellectual property by filing patent applications and presenting at conferences.
- Collaborate with Corporate Research, Business Labs, and international laboratories on technology transfer and capability development.
- Engage in up to 10% domestic/international travel to support projects and partnerships.
Required profile
- Ph.D. in Optical Sciences, Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline (completed before start).
- Experience with optical modeling and simulation software.
- Experience with CAD software and component design.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
