Advanced Research Engineer – Ceramics Focus

About the role

Join 3M as an Advanced Research Engineer with a focus on ceramics. You will work within a global, multidisciplinary technology team to create new ceramic applications and bring them to market.

Key responsibilities

• Operate as a critical member of a multidisciplinary technology development team.
• Identify and develop new ceramic applications through process development and experimentation.
• Drive implementation of ceramic technologies into existing and future product lines.
• Document, communicate, and disseminate research results to team members, business partners, and global stakeholders.
• Scale successful technologies from laboratory to full manufacturing.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing process disruptions and product‑quality issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in engineering, chemistry, or material science (required).
• At least two years of academic or industrial experience in ceramic processing, including forming and sintering.
• Advanced degree (MS or Ph.D.) and five or more years of industrial experience are preferred.
• Proven ability to use Design of Experiments (DOE) to solve complex technical problems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in a fast‑paced technical environment.
