General Maintenance Technician

About the role

Amentum is seeking a General Maintenance Technician for its operations and maintenance team in Atlanta, GA. The role provides an intermediate level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting and delivering emergency and preventive maintenance and repairs on building equipment, fixtures and systems in a commercial headquarters campus environment. It works under minimal supervision as part of a self-directed team and supports the Regional Manager with administrative tasks such as vendor follow-up, work order tracking and payment requests.

Key responsibilities

• Safely perform duties following job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout procedures and PPE requirements.
• Operate, maintain and repair facility and production equipment in line with company regulations.
• Analyze equipment failures, inspect, replace and maintain building equipment.
• Perform planned maintenance and troubleshooting on HVAC, pumps, agitators, hydraulic systems, RO/DI water systems, compressed air and gas equipment.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and safety inspections, and develop planned maintenance procedures.
• Maintain spare parts inventory, estimate jobs and assist with installing and servicing new equipment.
• Support contractors, vendors, project managers, building managers and engineers on projects and renovations.
• Respond to customers on work orders and recommend improvements to maintenance methods.
• Use measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments and office equipment, including the CMMS, and adapt to shifts, weekends and alternative schedules.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of maintenance experience in industrial HVAC, industrial mechanical machine repair or automotive repair, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to work in an aerial or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a security access badge at the client's location.
• Fluency in computer use, including the full Microsoft product line.
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs, handle light to medium-weight materials, and travel locally and occasionally by air.

The position does not include sponsorship for U.S. work authorization, and qualified applicants must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. Physical requirements include repetitive wrist movement, extensive walking, bending, squatting and kneeling, and the ability to differentiate wire colors.
