Fall 2026 Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Co‑Op

About the role

This co‑op position supports Bosch Charleston’s automotive manufacturing operations by assisting engineering teams in developing machine concepts, improving production output, and delivering technical solutions for capacity gaps. It is designed for undergraduate or graduate engineering students who want hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced, project‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the development of mechanical and electrical machine concepts for automotive sector requirements.
• Support engineering projects through concept, design, build, and commissioning phases.
• Prepare and present technical concepts and system architectures for project discussions.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, controls, manufacturing) to track scope, requirements, risks, schedules, and deliverables.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives for engineering standards and processes.
• Potentially support on‑site activities such as customer meetings, trials, and commissioning.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
• Strong interest in special machinery, industrial automation, or manufacturing systems, especially in the automotive industry.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, project‑driven environment.
• Curious mindset, proactive learning attitude, and strong teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Experience with CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of PLC programming.
• Familiarity with HMI design.
