Data Center Technician I

About the role

Google’s Hardware Operations team is looking for a Data Center Technician I to join its cutting‑edge infrastructure. You will work on the physical backbone that powers Google services, handling servers, networking gear, and related hardware in a fast‑paced data‑center environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain servers and server components.
• Maintain and configure networking equipment such as routers, switches, hubs, and bridges, and manage networking protocols.
• Perform component‑level repairs on technical equipment.
• Manually move and install racks, often requiring physical effort.
• Participate in or lead small project teams for larger installations and develop contingency plans.

Required profile

• Experience with component‑level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lb and perform physically demanding tasks over extended periods.
• Willingness to work non‑standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, holidays, and shift‑based schedules.
• At least 1 year diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, server hardware, or networking protocols.
• Experience in a similar role such as Systems Administration, Network Deployment, or Help Desk support.
• Adaptability to a dynamic work environment and strong collaboration skills.
