Construction Superintendent (Level 2/3) – Term Position

About the role

The Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking experienced Construction Superintendents (Level 2 or Level 3) to lead multi‑discipline, union‑craft teams on facility modification projects. This term position supports the Lab’s mission by ensuring work aligns with engineering designs, specifications, quality standards, schedules, and budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Direct sequencing of work for bargaining‑unit craft workers within assigned areas.
• Coordinate with System Engineers, Construction Managers, and Project Managers to meet project goals.
• Track costs, report changes, and maintain budgets for projects typically under $500k (Level 2) or larger (Level 3).
• Investigate abnormal events, incidents, or accidents and assist with corrective actions.
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules, ensuring resource, material, and equipment availability.
• For Level 3, act as Control Account Manager, handling planning, budgeting, cost control, and schedule performance.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in a unionized labor environment.
• Ability to work independently while under oversight of senior construction managers.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or after‑hours as needed.
