Construction Superintendent II

About the role

Mortenson is seeking a Superintendent II to lead and coordinate construction activities on assigned projects. The role involves supervising assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft crews while ensuring schedule adherence, safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and implement material, equipment, and inspection schedules to support project timelines.
• Review construction and contract documents for completeness and constructability.
• Coordinate plans and specifications with design engineers, resolving discrepancies.
• Develop and manage project schedules, including three‑ and six‑week look‑ahead plans.
• Create site logistics plans and oversee utilization of Mortenson tools and equipment.
• Conduct on‑site orientations, pre‑construction planning sessions, and regular site meetings.
• Supervise project partners, craft foremen, and crews; handle hiring, transfers, and terminations as needed.
• Coach and mentor assistant superintendents and craft team members.
• Ensure accurate task coding on timecards and track productivity.
• Provide high‑level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance.

Required profile

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil/Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or 10 years of trade experience.
• Minimum 8 years of construction management or related experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100 %.
• Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Basic understanding of construction law and business practices.
• Positive, professional attitude with strong customer‑service focus.

Required skills

• Intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency.
