Adult Education Teacher (Part‑Time) – Patrick & Henry Community College

About the role

The Part‑Time Adult Education Teacher will deliver reading, writing, social studies, math and science instruction to adult learners (18+) at Patrick & Henry Community College. The role supports the intellectual and personal development of a culturally diverse student body.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Adult Basic Education, ESL, Pre‑GED and GED courses using varied instructional methods.
• Plan lessons tailored to multi‑skill level students to prepare them for GED tests.
• Administer TABE assessments and track student progress.
• Maintain accurate registration, attendance and assessment records for NRS reporting.
• Integrate computer‑aided instruction and technology into lessons.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional conferences and training workshops.
• Collaborate with the adult education instructional team and perform other duties as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (required).
• Teaching experience; VA teaching license with adult education endorsement preferred.

Required skills

• Instructional planning and curriculum development.
• Use of computer‑aided instruction and related software.
• Administration of TABE testing and data analysis.
