U.S. Army Preventive Medicine Officer

About the role

The U.S. Army seeks qualified Preventive Medicine Officers to protect the health of Soldiers, retirees, and their families. In this role you will combine clinical expertise with public‑health leadership to improve wellness across military communities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee physical medicine and rehabilitation programs at medical installations.
• Train, mentor, and supervise medical personnel in preventive‑medicine practices.
• Lead Force Health Protection initiatives, assessing and mitigating health threats at individual and population levels.
• Execute core public‑health functions: assessment, policy development, and assurance.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary public‑health specialists such as nurses, entomologists, environmental scientists, occupational medicine officers, and industrial hygienists.

Required profile

• Medical Doctor (MD) with training in preventive medicine or public health.
• Eligibility for commissioning as a U.S. Army officer.
• Willingness to serve Soldiers, retirees, and their families in diverse settings.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and communicate health risks effectively.
