Training Specialist – Fleet Specialist

About the role

As a member of Waabi’s Training and Compliance Team, you will be the primary hands‑on trainer and subject‑matter expert for the Fleet Specialist workforce that keeps autonomous trucks operating safely and efficiently. You will partner with the Training Manager to design, build, and continuously improve technical learning programs.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and update technical learning materials, SOPs, job aids, interactive modules, and assessments using ADDIE or SAM methodologies.
• Conduct new‑hire onboarding for Fleet Specialists, delivering the full curriculum from classroom instruction through field certification.
• Provide ride‑along support during vehicle operations, offering real‑time context on systems, troubleshooting, and coordination between Fleet Specialists and Vehicle Operators.
• Deliver and assess Platform Shakeout Test (PST) and Mixed Reality Training (MRT) modules, ensuring trainees can execute procedures safely and independently.
• Maintain training records in the Daily Training Tracker and Jira, monitoring progress and recertification needs.
• Mentor high‑performing specialists through a Train‑the‑Trainer program and support Demo Readiness Certification.
• Collaborate with Dispatch and engineering to translate changes into clear field instruction.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 + years of experience as a Fleet Specialist or equivalent role supporting autonomous or Class 8 vehicles.
• Hands‑on experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and operating autonomous vehicle systems, hardware, and software interfaces.
• Familiarity with fleet support procedures such as Platform Shakeout Tests, Mixed Reality Training, and pre/post‑trip inspections.
• Proven ability to deliver safety‑critical training and assess performance in a field environment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills with meticulous record‑keeping.
