Test Automation Engineer

About the role

EdgeBeam is building a hybrid network operator platform and needs a Test Automation Engineer to make its Playwright test suite a reliable gate in the CI/CD pipeline. The role is based in Boston’s Seaport office and is fully on‑site, focusing on stabilising the pipeline before expanding test coverage.

Key responsibilities

• Own the CI/CD test pipeline in GitHub Actions, defining PR‑gate and nightly runs and ensuring results flow to ReportPortal and Xray for Jira.
• Define and maintain test tag conventions and runtime targets to keep feedback fast for pull requests and broad for nightly runs.
• Write and maintain Playwright tests for API and UI, improving coverage as the pipeline stabilises.
• Enforce selector hygiene (getByRole, getByLabel, getByTestId) to keep UI tests resilient.
• Run the “kill‑the‑flaky‑test” policy, auto‑quarantining flaky tests and coordinating fixes.
• Help formalise an AI‑assisted triage workflow that proposes hypotheses from failure logs and PR diffs.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience writing and maintaining automated tests in production, including ownership of a CI/CD test pipeline.
• Deep hands‑on expertise with Playwright using TypeScript or JavaScript for both API and UI testing.
• Proven ability to run Playwright at scale in CI/CD environments (sharding, parallelisation, retries, artifact handling) preferably in GitHub Actions.
• Experience integrating test results with platforms such as ReportPortal and test case management tools like Xray for Jira.
• Strong discipline around flaky‑test management and a proactive communication style.
