Technician III – Facilities Engineering (Weekend Night Shift)

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Technician III to join its Facilities Engineering team on the weekend night shift at the Houston manufacturing facility. The role supports engineers in designing, modifying, and improving equipment and processes while ensuring reliable operation of critical plant utilities.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and recommend process improvements and preventive actions.
• Inspect, test, maintain, repair, monitor, and install MEP equipment and systems.
• Use the Building Automation System (BAS) to troubleshoot building faults.
• Perform preventive maintenance, evaluate and modify PM plans.
• Support shutdowns, capital projects, continuous‑improvement initiatives, and PIT teams.
• Document work in Maximo and on test scripts/protocols following company and regulatory policies.
• Communicate professionally with production staff, contractors, and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and CGMP requirements.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent reading, writing, and speaking English.
• On‑site availability in Houston, TX.
• Willingness to work 3rd shift (Saturday‑Wednesday, 9:00 pm – 5:30 am CST).
• Travel requirement of 0‑10%.
• No relocation assistance, sponsorship, or visa support offered.

Required skills

• MEP systems inspection and maintenance.
• Building Automation System (BAS) troubleshooting.
• Preventive maintenance planning.
• Use of Maximo CMMS.
• HVAC, deionized water, compressed air, boiler, and chiller system knowledge.
• Ability to read technical drawings and interpret data.
