Teacher Aide – Multiple Positions in Metro Schools

About the role

The Conseil scolaire acadien provincial is seeking teacher aides for several schools in the Metro region. The role supports students with personal care, behavior management, and safety, working under the direction of the school principal.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personal care and assistance to students as needed.
• Support classroom management and help de‑escalate challenging situations.
• Ensure student safety and assist with positioning and mobility.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to promote a positive learning environment.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Post‑secondary program including a formal practicum related to student support.
• Physical ability to meet the demands of the position.
• Knowledge of child development stages.

Required skills

• ASL (American Sign Language) or other gestural communication.
• Image‑exchange communication system proficiency.
• Braille literacy.
• Ability to lift and position a student safely.
• First‑aid certification, CPR or CPR‑C.
• De‑escalation and emergency prevention strategies.

What we offer

• Hourly wage ranging from $19.42 to $27.07 (CAD).
• Permanent contract starting September 1, 2026.
