Tax Analyst – Chicago

About the role

The Tax Analyst will join the Tax Accounting team of a leading national law firm in Chicago. This position supports complex tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions while offering strong resources for professional growth.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and manage federal partnership, state composite, and state tax returns.
• Support non‑income tax compliance, including sales and use tax, personal property tax, and business licenses.
• Coordinate tax calendars and ensure timely filings across multiple jurisdictions.
• Assist with audits, tax projects, and special initiatives.
• Analyze financial data and prepare supporting schedules for tax filings.
• Calculate deductions, estimated payments, extensions, and apportionment percentages.
• Maintain and reconcile the firm’s fixed‑asset system, including depreciation tracking.
• Monitor tax law changes and ensure continued compliance.
• Prepare and file required state‑level filings and support internal reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2+ years of tax accounting experience with partnership and individual tax exposure.
• Strong understanding of tax compliance and reporting requirements.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with fixed‑asset systems, preferably Sage.
