Systems Administrator (Industrial Automation)

About the role

As an ETS Systems Administrator at Prime Controls, you will build, configure, and maintain virtual machines, Windows servers, and industrial‑grade computing environments that support control system deployments across a range of industries.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and configure Windows Server and client operating systems in line with project and cybersecurity requirements.
• Build and maintain virtual environments (VMware, Hyper‑V, Nutanix) for control system projects.
• Install and configure backup solutions, antivirus software, and endpoint protection tools.
• Manage Active Directory configurations, including users, groups, GPOs, and security settings.
• Create standardized virtual machine templates and accompanying documentation for repeatable deployments.
• Apply operating system patches and updates to meet customer and security compliance.
• Collaborate with ETS Network Specialists to integrate systems into control network topologies.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues during FAT, SAT, and commissioning support.
• Prepare and maintain documentation such as configuration guides, IP assignments, and support records.
• Support cybersecurity hardening efforts, including system lockdowns and baseline image control.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in systems administration or IT support, preferably in an industrial or project‑based environment.
• Proficiency with Windows Server and client operating systems.
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper‑V.
• Familiarity with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work both independently and within cross‑functional teams.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Server+, Microsoft MCSA, VMware VCP) are a plus.
• Scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Python, Bash) is desirable.
