Survey Tech I – Field Data Collection

About the role

The Survey Tech I is responsible for gathering and processing field data to support construction projects. This role combines the use of advanced GNSS and GPS equipment with a solid understanding of topographic analysis and construction layouts. You will work closely with engineering and project teams to ensure accurate measurements are integrated into project plans.

Key responsibilities

• Collect field data using sophisticated GNSS/GPS measuring equipment.
• Set lath for construction using GPS, including center and offset calculations.
• Operate survey instruments to capture static measurements and verify horizontal and vertical residuals against client benchmarks.
• Perform calculations for elevations, distances, and angles.
• Record measurements, notes, sketches, and drawings.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and clean all GPS and survey equipment.
• Communicate progress, challenges, and solutions to site and office management.
• Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to integrate survey data.

Required profile

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in surveying, remote sensing, engineering or related field.
• 2‑3 years of survey experience in construction or operations.
• Knowledge of ALAL Surveys and construction schematics.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Commitment to health and safety and zero‑injury principles.

Required skills

• GNSS correction methods and equipment configuration.
• GPS field equipment operation.
• Surveying software such as Trimble Business Center, MAGNET Office, or Civil 3D.
• Computer literacy and file management.
