Staff Attorney II – Legal Clinic

About the role

The University of Tulsa seeks a Staff Attorney II to provide legal representation and supervision within its clinical or grant‑funded programs. The attorney will manage case dockets, supervise students and fellows, and support community outreach.

Key responsibilities

• Manage program case dockets and intake calls for potential new clients.
• Conduct legal consultations and represent clinic clients in court hearings and proceedings.
• Draft motions, petitions, briefs, memoranda, and grant applications/reports.
• Supervise legal fellows and student case work, including direct representation and community outreach tasks.
• Maintain client communications, both verbal and written, and track outcomes for grant reporting.
• Communicate with community partners, stakeholders, and provide community education.

Required profile

• Juris Doctorate with 3 to 5 years of related experience.
• Licensed to practice law in Oklahoma (or any state for immigration positions, with preference for Oklahoma).
• Knowledge of Oklahoma law and procedure (or in‑depth immigration law for immigration‑focused roles).
• Multicultural lawyering with bias‑awareness; fluent in Spanish preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and legal research/writing skills.

Required skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
• Proficient with case management software.
