Specialist, Measurement

About the role

The Specialist, Measurement will apply expertise in data management, statistical programming, and quality assurance to support the creation of licensure and certification exams. Working closely with Measurement and Research teams, the role ensures high‑quality data files and technical reports while acting as a liaison to Pearson’s Business Intelligence developers.

Key responsibilities

• Write and run programs to extract, clean, and prepare data for psychometric analysis.
• Manage data files from multiple sources such as data warehouses, Microsoft Access, Excel, and text files.
• Maintain data quality and develop standardized data‑management and verification protocols.
• Collaborate with psychometricians to standardize verification and validation processes.
• Document programming, data‑management, and quality‑assurance procedures.
• Support statistical or psychometric projects through data processing and analysis.
• Represent Psychometric Services in software development teams for reporting tool enhancements and bug fixes.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in statistics or a related quantitative field, or a Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of relevant experience.
• Two or more years of experience using Python, R, or similar tools for data management and statistical analysis, preferably in educational or professional testing.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with test construction principles, classical and IRT‑based item analysis, and item calibration is preferred.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
