About the role
The Staff Software Engineer is a key member of the Oceaneering Technologies (OTECH) group, leading software and engineering efforts for unique underwater systems used by US Navy and DoD customers. The role focuses on developing analytical tools for data collected from underwater vehicles and making architectural decisions that ensure long‑term system maintainability.
Key responsibilities
- Lead or contribute to software development projects, including architecture design, implementation, and maintenance.
- Interface with customers, program management, and cross‑functional teams to define needs and design solutions.
- Deliver project CDRLs, manage requirements, produce documentation, and conduct unit, safety, and qualification testing.
- Lead trade studies, support testing in remote and onsite environments, and provide technical support at the customer facility.
- Perform analysis of user requirements, concept of operations, and high‑level system architectures to develop specifications and test plans.
Required profile
- BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, preferably with .NET/C# and relational databases.
- US citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance and Security+ or CASP+ certification.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and proven team‑leadership experience.
