Software Engineer II

About the role

Join Walmart’s Receipt Check team as a Software Engineer II, building and maintaining high‑quality software for Sam’s Club’s Exit Technology on Zebra TC53 devices. You will work on event‑driven services that combine machine learning and computer vision to provide real‑time purchase verification and a seamless exit experience for members.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, configure and maintain robust software components following coding standards.
• Collaborate on software architecture and platform solutions using object‑oriented programming and cloud technologies.
• Participate in CI/CD processes to automate testing, build and deployment workflows.
• Create and execute test cases, identify defects and support troubleshooting.
• Monitor application performance, assist in maintenance, and ensure system reliability and security.
• Document development progress and stay current with emerging tools and best practices.

Required profile

• Proven software development experience, particularly with Java and object‑oriented principles.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
• Understanding of cloud platforms, telemetry and secure coding standards.
• Ability to write clean, minimalistic and robust code.
• Knowledge of software testing, defect management and troubleshooting techniques.
• Experience with version control systems and databases (SQL and NoSQL).
