Software Engineer, Android Platform, Beam

About the role

Google is seeking a Software Engineer to work on the Android platform for Beam, its three‑dimensional video communication project. The role involves building and integrating Android software that powers immersive, life‑sized communication experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Android applications and system components for Beam.
• Collaborate on projects critical to Google’s product roadmap and switch between teams as needs evolve.
• Address full‑stack challenges, including OS concepts, networking, and hardware‑software integration.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of experience developing on the Android platform.
• Understanding of core operating‑system concepts and networking protocols.
• Experience with one or more programming languages such as Java, C++ or Kotlin.
• Preferred: Master’s or PhD, experience shipping consumer‑electronics devices, low‑level peripheral configuration, accessibility implementation, strong foundation in data structures, algorithms and software design.
