Senior Backend Developer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join the Platform Development team at Rockefeller Capital Management. You will own the design and implementation of APIs and the underlying data architecture that power internal dashboards, workflows and integrations used by advisors and operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build RESTful APIs and backend services using C#/.NET on Microsoft Azure (App Service, Azure Functions, API Management).
• Design, model and evolve SQL Server database schemas, including normalization, indexing, referential integrity and migration planning.
• Write, tune and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, stored procedures and views across large datasets.
• Architect event‑driven integrations with Azure Service Bus, Event Grid or similar messaging platforms.
• Ensure security and compliance via secure coding practices, Entra ID identity management and OWASP standards.
• Implement observability (Application Insights, structured logging), manage incidents and optimise service performance.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for testing, deployment and environment management.
• Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews and establish backend engineering standards.
• Collaborate with front‑end engineers and product teams to define API contracts and deliver incremental releases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5–10 years of professional software development experience focused on backend/API development.
• Proven experience owning database architecture decisions and designing services on Microsoft Azure.
