Senior Avionics Engineer

About the role

Venus Aerospace is building next‑generation propulsion platforms and needs a senior avionics engineer to lead the design and integration of flight computers, sensors, power systems and communications for high‑performance aerospace vehicles. The role combines hands‑on hardware development, hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing and cross‑disciplinary collaboration to deliver flight‑ready avionics.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design and component selection for avionics hardware, including flight computers, sensors, power distribution and communication interfaces.
• Define and implement interfaces between flight computers, sensors, actuators, power systems and radios.
• Develop and maintain hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) test environments for software integration and verification.
• Perform battery sizing, power budget analysis, thermal considerations and mission‑profile assessments.
• Support system integration, ground testing and flight testing, providing troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis.
• Collaborate with external vendors to define requirements, evaluate components, conduct trade studies and support procurement.
• Author and review technical documentation such as requirements, ICDs, schematics, test plans and verification reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 5+ years experience in avionics or aerospace electrical systems engineering.
• Proven experience designing or selecting flight‑computer hardware and conducting HIL testing.
• Hands‑on experience defining interfaces between flight components and performing battery and power‑system analysis.
• Experience working with vendors, creating schematics, wiring diagrams and interface control documents.
