Registered Nurse – Ambulatory (OB/GYN)

About the role

The Ambulatory Registered Nurse in the OB/GYN unit provides comprehensive nursing care to women receiving outpatient obstetric and gynecologic services. Working closely with physicians and the multidisciplinary team, the nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates individualized care plans to promote optimal health outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct patient interviews, explain policies, and review medical records while assessing cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, renal, neurological, and pain status.
• Evaluate psychosocial health, cultural needs, and coping mechanisms, documenting findings and coordinating support services.
• Develop and document patient outcome statements, set individualized goals, and prioritize care activities.
• Coordinate cost‑effective use of supplies, equipment, and medications, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
• Administer prescribed treatments, operate relevant medical equipment, and provide emotional support to patients and families.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses.
• Respond rapidly to emergencies, applying clinical judgment and leadership to manage the care team.

Required profile

• Current RN licensure and experience in ambulatory OB/GYN or women’s health settings.
• Strong assessment and clinical decision‑making abilities.
• Effective communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, delegate appropriately, and lead a care unit.
