About the role
We are seeking a Quality Control Supervisor to lead our QC team in a wood products manufacturing environment. The role ensures product strength and compliance through rigorous testing and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Manage QC staff – scheduling, payroll, hiring, training, and safety performance.
- Verify product strength properties of in‑process materials and finished goods through QC testing.
- Ensure testing procedures follow industry standards and the mill QC Manual.
- Assist maintenance and vendors in troubleshooting critical QC equipment such as veneer graders, thickness detectors, and blow detectors.
- Provide instruction on task performance, procedures, and special projects.
- Evaluate incoming and in‑process raw materials (veneer, OSB, adhesives, sealer) against specifications.
- Interface with customers on mill tours, product quality issues, and site visits.
- Coordinate product development and quality initiatives.
- Interact with third‑party audit agencies to maintain compliance.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, instrument calibration, test data files, and document control.
Required profile
- College, vocational or specialized training/certification, or equivalent experience.
- Strong math and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of wood products manufacturing and distribution.
- Self‑motivation, accountability, and attention to detail in raw material evaluation, process monitoring, product testing, data collection, entry, and reporting.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Wood Science and 2+ years of QC experience in engineered wood products.
