Psychiatric Service House Supervisor

About the role

The Psychiatric Service House Supervisor leads nursing activities for a designated shift at Palestine Regional Medical Center, a 150‑bed acute‑care hospital in Palestine, TX. The role ensures safe, efficient, and therapeutic patient care while maintaining continuity with other shifts and supporting the Director of Nursing Services when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret hospital policies and state regulations related to nursing services.
• Guide and counsel shift personnel, manage staffing patterns, and adjust daily schedules.
• Coordinate nursing activities through charge nurses and oversee execution of nursing and hospital policies.
• Report nursing activities, needs, and incidents to the Director of Nursing Services.
• Recommend and procure supplies and equipment required for the shift.
• Conduct routine checks on personnel, time cards, equipment, and supplies; approve repair orders.
• Maintain environmental and infection control standards.
• Participate in safety programs, in‑service education, and orientation for new staff.
• Evaluate employee performance, approve salary changes, and make hiring, promotion, suspension, or termination recommendations.
