Project Engineer – Capital Projects

About the role

The Project Engineer will lead technical delivery of capital projects at Nestlé’s manufacturing plant in Schaumburg, overseeing design, construction, and commissioning to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop pre‑project approval documents, including charter, management plan, estimates and milestone schedule.
• Review design deliverables, coordinate bid packages and select contractors.
• Direct installation, construction and commissioning activities.
• Manage project scope, changes, budget forecasts and cash‑flow projections.
• Maintain integrated milestone schedules and monitor compliance with FDA and OSHA regulations.
• Provide construction management support and technical assistance to plant operations.
• Evaluate and issue contracts for construction firms through bidding and pre‑qualification.

Required profile

• University degree in Mechanical, Process, Chemical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience managing capital projects in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Proven ability to deliver major projects on time and within budget.
• Experience with SAP and Microsoft Project preferred.
• Familiarity with TPM and continuous improvement methodologies.
