Principal Product Manager – Technical

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Principal Product Manager – Technical to lead the strategy and delivery of its global real‑time switching and authorization platforms. In this senior individual‑contributor role you will shape the vision, roadmap and execution of mission‑critical transaction processing systems that handle billions of payments worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the long‑term product vision and strategy for switching and authorization platforms.
• Translate complex customer, business and regulatory needs into clear product roadmaps and prioritized epics.
• Partner with engineering, architecture and operations teams to influence design decisions while ensuring product accountability.
• Specify functional and non‑functional requirements, including availability, latency, throughput and resiliency targets.
• Manage multi‑year roadmaps, oversee delivery of features, and drive modernization initiatives.
• Ensure operational readiness, monitoring and observability are embedded in product releases.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in product management for large‑scale, high‑availability transaction processing systems.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and influence technical design decisions.
• Strong analytical mindset with data‑driven decision‑making skills.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate vision and requirements to diverse stakeholders.

Required skills

• Product management of real‑time payment or switching platforms.
• Understanding of high‑throughput, low‑latency system architecture.
• Experience defining availability, latency, throughput and resiliency requirements.
