Performance Auditor – Government Oversight

About the role

The Office of Inspector General seeks a Performance Auditor to conduct high‑quality audits of U.S. funded foreign assistance programs. The role involves evaluating program effectiveness, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and providing actionable recommendations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and document performance audits in accordance with GAGAS and OIG policies.
• Research and develop audit proposals, including sampling plans and data‑collection tools.
• Analyze financial, statistical, and program data using quantitative and qualitative methods.
• Identify applicable laws, regulations, and guidance to assess program performance.
• Communicate findings with agency representatives and internal stakeholders.
• Brief audit managers and senior leaders on audit progress and results.
• Prepare and maintain audit working papers, analytical summaries, and interview documentation.
• Collaborate with team members to evaluate evidence and formulate audit recommendations.
• Participate in interviews with officials, implementers, and program recipients.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship.
• Relevant experience in performance auditing or a related field.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Degree in auditing, business administration, finance, public administration, accounting, or a related discipline.
• Time‑in‑grade requirement met by the vacancy closing date.
• Male applicants born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
• Potential one‑year probationary period.
