Part-Time Household Manager for Busy Family

About the role

We are seeking a reliable, proactive Household Manager to keep our busy family home running smoothly. The role is part‑time (10‑15 hours per week) on two days, primarily Monday and Wednesday or Friday, with occasional evenings. You will work onsite at our Reading, MA residence, handling organization, errands, and light household oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain household organization systems, including daily resets and prep before biweekly cleaner visits.
• Light tidying such as dishes, surfaces, and high‑traffic area vacuuming; seasonal clothing, décor, and bedding swaps.
• Coordinate donation drop‑offs, pack and unpack for family travel, and perform ad‑hoc maintenance tasks (batteries, bulbs, smoke detectors).
• Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies; manage laundry, folding, ironing, and special garment care.
• Light meal oversight, grocery shopping, and monitoring meals in the oven while accommodating gluten‑free dietary needs.
• Monitor cat food, water, litter, and keep pet supplies stocked.
• Refresh entryways, mudroom, and other high‑traffic areas; handle organizational projects like closets, pantry, toys, and gear.
• Assist with kids’ backpacks, sports equipment, snacks, kid‑related errands, and occasional date‑night supervision.
• Manage household calendar (Skylight) and provide proactive reminders; track vehicle registration.

Required profile

• Highly independent, proactive and flexible, anticipating family needs before they arise.
• Discreet, professional, and comfortable moving through the home with care.
• Direct communicator who follows up without prompting and reads the room well.
• Reliable, detail‑oriented and able to build rapport with children.
• Authorized to work in the United States with reliable personal transportation.
