Child Welfare Services Case Manager (Level 1)

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services is seeking a Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1 to join the Division of Family & Children Services in Cartersville. In this position you will respond to reports of alleged child maltreatment, conduct assessments, and develop safety plans to protect vulnerable children.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate timely, face‑to‑face responses to screened‑in reports of alleged child maltreatment and conduct safety assessments.
• Develop and implement safety plans, conduct search efforts, and coordinate casework using the Solution Based Casework (SBC) model.
• Partner with children and parents to create Family Functioning Agreements, Action Plans, and permanency goals.
• Maintain regular visits, document case activities, and ensure stable foster care placements aligned with the Adoptions and Safe Families Act.
• Collaborate with community partners, identify educational and mental health needs, and facilitate connections to extended family, schools, and faith communities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Ability to pass agency testing, background checks, drug screening, and motor‑vehicle record review.
• Willingness to work day shift, be on‑call after hours, and use a personal vehicle for work‑related travel.
