Part-Time Custodian at South Georgia Technical College

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a reliable part‑time custodian to support the facilities at South Georgia Technical College in Americus. This temporary position offers up to 25 hours per week and is ideal for individuals who enjoy maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming campus environments.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning of classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas.
• Replace bathroom supplies, light bulbs, and other consumables.
• Move and arrange furniture, set up chairs, tables, podiums, and other equipment for special events and college functions.
• Maintain and store custodial tools and equipment, including carpet/floor machines.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables throughout the campus.

Required profile

• Knowledge of custodial tools, methods, safety guidelines, and college policies.
• Valid driver’s license and a customer‑friendly, student‑oriented attitude.
• At least six months of recent experience operating custodial equipment (preferred).
• Physical ability to push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, stand or walk for 4‑8 hours and lift 25‑49 lb occasionally.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check, motor‑vehicle record review, and drug screening.

Required skills

• Operation of custodial equipment such as carpet and floor machines.
• Use of cleaning tools and supplies in accordance with safety standards.
