About the role
Texas A&M University’s University Health Services seeks a Mental Health Clinician focused on crisis management to support the well‑being of students. The clinician will provide counseling, outreach, and supervision while collaborating with campus safety, student assistance, and hospital partners. This full‑time position emphasizes high‑risk client tracking, walk‑in crisis appointments, and post‑hospital discharge assessments.
Key responsibilities
- Provide individual, couple, and group mental health counseling with an emphasis on crisis intervention.
- Assess clients, develop care plans, and coordinate referrals to community and hospital resources.
- Track high‑risk and high‑complexity student cases and maintain accurate documentation.
- Deliver outreach presentations, workshops, and mental‑health education to students, faculty, and staff.
- Offer consultation to faculty, staff, families, and campus partners regarding student mental health.
- Supervise psychology and counseling practicum students and licensed associate clinicians.
- Flex schedule during periods of heightened student need, including evenings and weekends.
- Participate in departmental, university, and cross‑functional committees and initiatives.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or a related field accepted by the Texas State Board of Examiners.
- Current Texas licensure as LPC, LMFT, or LCSW (or obtain within one year of hire) with required post‑licensure clinical hours.
- Minimum of 3,000 post‑licensure clinical hours completed under supervision (LPC/LCSW) or 3,000 hours with 200 supervised for LMFT.
- Experience in crisis management, case management, and working with high‑risk student populations.
- Ability to provide services in multiple languages spoken by A&M students (preferred).
- Training in evidence‑based practices and ability to supervise clinical trainees.
