Medical Laboratory Scientist II – Microbiology

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist II specialized in Microbiology. In this onsite position you will perform diagnostic microbiology testing that directly supports patient care and clinical decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized microbiology cultures, identification, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
• Process and evaluate clinical specimens according to established protocols.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory instrumentation and ensure compliance with quality control standards.
• Document and report results accurately in the laboratory information system.
• Adhere to biosafety, infection control, and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
• ASCP or equivalent certification preferred.
• At least 1‑2 years of experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory.
• Legal authority to work in the United States.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
