About the role
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist II specialized in Microbiology. In this onsite position you will perform diagnostic microbiology testing that directly supports patient care and clinical decision‑making.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized microbiology cultures, identification, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
- Process and evaluate clinical specimens according to established protocols.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory instrumentation and ensure compliance with quality control standards.
- Document and report results accurately in the laboratory information system.
- Adhere to biosafety, infection control, and regulatory requirements.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
- ASCP or equivalent certification preferred.
- At least 1‑2 years of experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory.
- Legal authority to work in the United States.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
Required skills
- Microbiology techniques and specimen processing.
- Operation of automated laboratory instruments.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety and quality standards.
