Mathematician - AI Trainer

About the role

Mercor is seeking a Mathematician to serve as an AI Trainer, focusing on evaluating and improving the mathematical reasoning of multimodal AI models. This remote contract position offers the opportunity to work directly with cutting‑edge research teams and shape the quality of AI‑generated mathematical content.

Key responsibilities

• Assess the accuracy and depth of AI‑generated mathematics to enhance model reasoning and rigor.
• Review complex mathematical outputs for alignment with established domain principles and methodologies.
• Provide clear, structured feedback to AI research teams to improve training data quality and downstream performance.
• Develop evaluation rubrics and benchmarks for assessing AI‑generated mathematical tasks and solutions.
• Collaborate with subject‑matter experts to ensure consistency, relevance, and comprehensive coverage across datasets.
• Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines while driving improvements in AI model performance.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of mathematics at an advanced level.
• Experience with AI model training and evaluation processes.
