Maintenance Worker

About the role

Thorlabs is seeking a Maintenance Worker to support the upkeep of its facilities in Newton, NJ. The role involves routine preventive maintenance, building repairs, and general support tasks to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment.
• Move, assemble, and install furniture and fixtures.
• Assist building maintenance technicians with repairs, including roof work and painting.
• Support cleaning services across multiple locations and handle outdoor tasks such as lawn care and snow removal.
• Replenish stock, distribute mail, and maintain maintenance logs.
• Comply with safety regulations and wear required personal protective equipment.

Required profile

• Works under general supervision and follows company policies.
• Valid and insurable driver’s license.
• Ability to lift or move objects up to 45 lb and stand or sit for long periods.
• Comfortable handling small parts and working in moderate to noisy environments.
• Willingness to wear PPE such as masks, glasses, gloves, and specialty garments.
