Legal Officer – Contracts (US/Canada Funding)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Legal Officer to join its Contract Law Division. The role focuses on providing legal advice for contracts linked to United States and Canadian funding, ensuring compliance with IOM’s legal framework and protecting the organization’s interests.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on a variety of contracts related to US and Canadian funding and operations, considering IOM’s legal status, templates, and regulations.
• Serve as the focal point for contract‑related matters involving the US and Canada, offering guidance and follow‑up as needed.
• Assist in developing new contract templates to safeguard IOM’s legal interests.
• Deliver timely and accurate legal counsel during negotiations and contract‑related discussions.

Required profile

• Legal background with experience in contract law and international funding mechanisms.
• Familiarity with IOM’s legal framework, including its Constitution, staff regulations, and financial rules.
• Ability to work under the supervision of the Legal Counsel and the Division Head of the Contract Law Division.
