About the role
This unpaid internship is part of the United Nations Team of Experts on the Rule of Law and Sexual Violence in Conflict, supporting the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary‑General on Sexual Violence. Interns will work either on‑site in New York or remotely, full‑time or part‑time, for an initial three‑month period with possible extension to six months.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor developments in countries of interest to the Team of Experts.
- Perform routine administrative tasks and assist in organizing conferences, events and meetings.
- Take notes, draft summaries and action points from internal and external meetings.
- Support research activities for Team members.
- Accompany Team members to meetings with Permanent Missions, other UN offices, and multilateral bodies such as the Security Council and General Assembly.
- Prepare public information, social‑media material, presentations and documents.
- Undertake any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Required profile
- Enrolled in or having completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor‑level university degree.
- Computer literate with standard software applications.
- Strong interest in United Nations work and commitment to the UN Charter.
- Ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
