Lead Android Engineer

About the role

Design, implement, and maintain Bumble application features that are scalable, secure, and reliable using Google Cloud Platform services. Drive technically complex product features from inception to delivery while owning the full software development lifecycle. Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to ship new features and continuously improve the app.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Android features leveraging GCP services.
• Own end‑to‑end delivery of complex product features, managing the full SDLC.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to ship new functionality.
• Evaluate and integrate AI‑based development tools to boost productivity and code quality.
• Lead architecture discussions and propose scalable technical solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers through pairing, code reviews, and guidance.
• Define and uphold engineering standards and best practices.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional experience building and shipping production Android applications.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin and modern Android development practices.
• Experience with UI development using Jetpack Compose and/or XML‑based views.
• Proven ability to design and maintain Android architectures such as MVVM, MVI, or Clean Architecture.
• Deep understanding of Android fundamentals including lifecycle, threading, performance, and memory management.
• Experience integrating networked APIs with robust error handling and offline support.
• Track record of owning Android features from design through testing and release.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, inclusive mindset.
