Junior Stress Analyst – Space Systems

About the role
Are you passionate about solving complex problems? Join our dynamic team as a Junior Stress Analyst and become a vital contributor to support NASA as an Oceaneering teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. This role immerses you in the thrilling world of human spaceflight and deep‑space exploration programs.
Key responsibilities
- Support structural analysis tasks for the NASA/JSC customer in the Structures Branch.
- Review structural requirements on flight hardware, ground support equipment, and test support equipment.
- Perform hand calculations and determine margins of safety.
- Create and analyze finite element models using PATRAN, FEMAP, or MSC/MARC.
- Apply loads and boundary conditions, post‑process results, and prepare analysis reports.
- Assess parts and assemblies for fracture control per NASA standards.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency and ability to pass a U.S. government background investigation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Required skills
- Hand stress calculations and margin of safety assessments.
- Finite element modeling with PATRAN, FEMAP, MSC/MARC.
- Familiarity with NASA standards (STD‑5019, STD‑5020, STD‑5001, STD‑5005).
- Experience with NASGRO software.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
