About the role
The Internal Communications Manager (ICM) will help the university community understand leadership priorities, strategic initiatives, and key decisions. Reporting to the Director of Internal Communications, the ICM crafts clear, consistent messaging that builds transparency and shared purpose across campus.
Key responsibilities
- Design and execute communication plans for university‑wide strategic initiatives.
- Draft and edit messages in the voice of senior leaders for students, faculty, staff, and broader audiences.
- Coordinate with leadership in Finance, Auxiliary Services, Facilities, and Student Affairs to ensure timely, accurate information flow.
- Serve as a central resource for best practices in newsletter distribution and event promotion, supporting roughly 200 campus events.
- Collaborate with the Office of Strategic Communications to protect and enhance the university brand.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
- 3–4 years of experience in public relations, journalism, broadcasting, higher‑education, or nonprofit communications.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong judgment, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Interpersonal skills, flexibility to work evenings/weekends, and diplomatic handling of high‑volume communication initiatives.
